Layout comes before pipe
Confirm fixtures, equipment, service entries, structural openings, ceiling zones, and finished elevations before rough-in. A late layout change can affect drainage slope, vent routing, access, and other trades.

Rough-in is a coordination stage
Drain and vent routes compete with structure, ductwork, electrical, cabinetry, and waterproofing. The sequence should identify who resolves conflicts and who approves a field change.
- Fixture and equipment schedule
- Drain, vent, and cleanout access
- Water distribution and shutoffs
- Sleeves, backing, penetrations, and fire-stopping responsibilities

Close only after inspection and records
Complete required testing and inspections, then photograph concealed routes, valves, cleanouts, and service transitions. Record approved changes so future repairs do not begin with guesswork.
